Located in the heart of Envied Kumaun region, the popular tourist town of Almora boosts of being a cantonment town, a municipal board and the administrative capital of the Almora district. The town got its name after a plant found in the region called Kilmora which was used to wash the utensils of the famous temple of Katarmal. It rests on the southern slope of Kumaun hills in the shape of horse shoe saddle.
Surrounded by pristine and towering forests of Pine and Fir, the famous destination is thronged by umpteen tourists all around the year. The picturesque snow capped Himalayas can be seen from the background. The rivers Koshi and Suyal are the rivers which flow alongside the river and add to its awe-inspiring beauty. The town is a perfect weekend getaway destination from Chandigarh and Delhi.
