Auli is perhaps one of the finest and most popular tourist destinations in Uttarakhand. Popularly known as Auli Bugyal where bugyal means meadows, it is a skiing paradise. Surrounded by coniferous and oak forests and breathtaking view of snow capped Himalayas it is thronged by millions throughout the year. Be it the professional or the novice the slopes have something in store for everyone.
It also boosts of having Asia’s longest cable chair car. Apart from skiing there are host of activities on offer in Auli due to the varied topography it has, some being trekking, rappelling rock climbing and many more. This place also has spiritual importance as you can find temples belonging to Ramayana era.

Culture and history infoAuli is revered amongst the skiing enthusiasts around the world. The slopes of this place provide a perfect runway for the skiers. The first SAF winter games were held over here in 2011. Umpteen tourists and adventurers throng this place in winters in urge for satisfying their hunger for adventure. This also serves as the starting point for the famous Kauri Pass Trek in the Higher Himalayas.
To promote the Skiing culture in the country GMVN (Gharwal Mandal Vikas Nigam) also conducts 7 Day and 14 Day Skiing courses. This place is equally famous along with the other skiing destinations in India such as Manali, Gulmarg and Shimla. The view of imposing Himalayan range makes for a perfect playground, which Auli is.
Every year skiing festival and national festival for snow skiing are conducted in Auli. Auli is also famous for religious reasons also as you can find temples from the Ramayan era. Other religious places which lie close to the town are Joshimath, Badrinath and Vishnu Prayag.
