Kanatal is named after a nonexistent lake by the same name. People believe that there used to be a lake kanatal few years ago, which is now no more. Kanatal is famously known for its Surkunda devi temple which is dedicated to Sati. It is believed that it’s this place where Shiva brought the dead body of Sati on his trishul from the holy city of Haridwar.

This holy temple is located on the top of the hill from where you get the 360 degree picturesque view of the surrounding area.
